Hello everyone, This week you expressed that you wanted to start working with more entree and full meal foods. Therefore we approached this with a black box approach. On Tuesday you were given chicken and Thursday beef, both with a verity of vegetables and asked to create something interesting and tasty. Overall I think you found some success in in attacking this task. It is very difficult to create a meal in such a short time and it is something that all people and adults do find a challenge.  Have a good weekend
Hello Everyone, We had a good start back to school this week after some time off for thanksgiving. I hope that you enjoyed your break and that you are ready for the next chunk of time leading up to winter break. This week we started with some class time where you revisited the final research project. This project is designed for you to investigate some of the deeper parts of the food industry. Please feel free to explore where your interest lies as that will make it far more interesting. This week we started to move forward with practicing the cooking process. We have a bounty of tomatoes from the community garden and you were give free reign to make a recipe from it. You all chose pasta with a red sauce and overall this went well. Remember heat management and planning and foundational. Have a great weekend.

Hello Everyone, Good job this week. This was the last week that we had before the Thanksgiving Break. We tried to finish up some of the extra ingredients in the kitchen as they may go bad over the next week. We tried to make something a little more complicated with brownies and caramel sauce. To be successful we needed to be able to use your time effectively, starting the brownies then moving to the sauce. One of the other key skills needed was heat management as making the sauce could very quickly go from under cooked to burnt in a matter of minutes. Overall good attempts. Have a good week off.
Hello everyone, This week we continued to work on some of the key skills that we need in the kitchen. One of these is the need to develop our skill in heat management, organization and planning and meeting standards for cleanliness. We did this through making pancakes this week and also through letting you modify and change the recipe. I hope you were able to see the differences from your changes. Once again next week we will continue to build on our increasing skills. Have a good weekend.
